Jonathan Amoako-Baah
GRIDCo, Ghana

Jonathan Amoako-Baah graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 1985 with a BSc (Eng) Degree, specializing in Telecommunications. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Ghana, Legon and also a Certificate in Investment Appraisal and Risk Management from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

He has worked for several years in the VRA as a Design Engineer on the Northern Electrification and System Reinforcement Project (NESRP), the Lower Volta Electrification Project and the National Electrification Projects. He also worked as a Principal P&C Engineer at the Akosombo Generating Station and was a Task Manager on the West African Gas Pipeline and the Takoradi II Expansion Projects.

He was seconded to the West African Power Pool (WAPP) headquarters in Cotonou, Benin as a Project Coordinator, supervising projects in Ghana, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Mali. Amoako-Baah is a fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE), and a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) of the USA. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee as well as Team Leader of the Operations. Maintenance and Development of Power Systems Committee of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA). He is a member of the Board of the Nuclear Power Institute.

He is an International Speaker on the Electric Utility Industry and has spoken at various conferences in Europe, Middle East and Africa

Before his appointment, Amoako-Baah was the Director, Technical Services of the Volta River Authority (VRA). He is the immediate past President of the Society Of Volta River Authority Engineers (SOVRAE).
