Sharbini Suhaili

Sharbini Suhaili is the Group Chief Executive Officer of Sarawak Energy, a vertically integrated power utility and energy development company that provides electricity to over 630,000 domestic, industrial and commercial customers as well as bulk power to energy intensive and export customers.

Through its various subsidiaries, the wholly State- owned government corporation is responsible for the generation, transmission, distribution and retail of electricity in Sarawak, and is also mandated to own and develop Sarawak’s coal resources for power generation.
Sharbini joined Sarawak Energy in November, 2016 after 30 years of local and international experience in the petroleum industry, working for PETRONAS and Royal Dutch Shell in upstream production, asset development, planning, strategy and commercial as well as business development. 

Prior to joining Sarawak Energy, Sharbini was the Vice President of Group Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) of PETRONAS where he provided stewardship in the area of HSSE’s system, governance and frameworks, standards, assurance and competency development in creating value for the company.

He also served as Vice President, Upstream International looking after the oil company's upstream business which operate in more than 23 countries around the world in Europe, Africa, Australasia and the Middle East, with over 50 international partnerships.

Prior to joining PETRONAS, Sharbini worked in Shell in various positions both locally and overseas including at the Shell Head Office in The Hague. He was General Manager of Shell Malaysia's Sabah upstream operations and headed their non-operated joint-ventures before joining PETRONAS in 2010.

He holds a degree in Engineering (Hons) from University of Leeds, United Kingdom and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Management College, United Kingdom.

Born in Sarawak, Malaysia, Sharbini is 53 and is married with one grown son.
