Zainal Arifin

Zainal Arifinreceived a BSC in Mechanical Engineering from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Indonesia in 1994. He earned his MBA in Operation Management in 2010 from University of Missouri – St Louis (UMSL), USA, and a PhD in Strategic Management from Universitas Indonesia in 2016.

He is currently Vice President of Technology Development and Standardization of PLN, Indonesia. His main responsibility is to do technology assessment, standardization and in-house innovation. He is teaching at graduate program of Indonesia University and STT PLN, and delivering lecture at graduate program of Padjadjaran University, Trisakti University and ITS. Until right now, he is Team leader of PLN Smart Grid (from 2016) and Team leader of Electric Vehicle infrastructure development in PLN (from 2013).

He was invited to deliver speech at some conferences such Asia Coal Gasification Conference 2013 (Singapore), The Annual Gas Turbine Conference 2014 (Singapore), Gas Fired Power Plants Conference 2014 (Singapore), Indo Coal 16th Conference 2015 (Indonesia), World Clean Coal Conference 2015 (Indonesia), Power South East Asia Conference 2016 (Indonesia), World Clean Coal Conference 2017 (Indonesia), GE Distributed Power Generation 2017 (Indonesia), 9th Korean Smart Grid Week – International Conference 2018 (Korea), Conference on EV Charging Infrastructure Asia 2019 (Singapore) and Asia Power and Energy Summit 2019 (Philippines).

He also presented paper at some conferences such as The 20th Conference of the Electric Power Supply Industry 2014 (Korea), International Symposium on Technology Management and Emerging Technologies 2015 (Malaysia), 11th International Strategic Management Conference 2015 (Austria), International Symposium on Social Science, Arts and Humanities 2015 (Indonesia), The 2015 International Symposium on Frontier Theories in Management (China), 2017 IERE (International Electricity Research Exchange) – TNB Putrajaya Workshop (Malaysia), The 18th IERE (International Electricity Research Exchange) General Meeting & Japan Forum 2018 (Japan) and IEEE Technology and Engineering Management Conference 2019 (USA).

Zainal is Board Member of Global Smart Grid Federation (GSGF) and Indonesia Strategic Management Society (ISMS). He is also member of IEEE Technology and Management Society. His writing about energy, technology and innovation management is published at some newspaper, magazines, and book. He has also published articles in peer-reviewed journal such as Advanced Science Letters, Elsevier Procedia – Social Behavioral Sciences, IEEE Xplore, and Gadjah Mada International Journal of Business.
