Virgil Beaston is the Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Powin Energy and has been with the company since 2011. Beaston has more than 10 years of experience in the battery and energy storage industry and is often asked to speak publicly as a subject matter expert. He views business and the rapidly growing energy storage storage sector from a unique perspective as he previously was a patent attorney at an intellectual property firm and then was a co-founder and CTO of a start-up company that made energy storage products prior to joining Powin Energy. In 2008, Beaston moved to Shenzhen China and setup and ran a small factory that designed and produced energy storage products. He continued to live and work in Shenzhen until joining Powin Energy as its Chief Technology Officer. Beaston is an inventor, lawyer, and engineer with impressive academic credentials, and his many experiences over the past 10 years have given him a unique insight into what it takes to commercialize the new clean-tech technologies that are helping to fuel the green economy.
